What’s Next…

posted by CY25

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve seen this site. As the founder of this ministry, this past 9 months has been a huge shift in my own thoughts on ministry. When this ministry blew up with a weekly podcast and killer motocross camp it left all the basic life necessities on my wife and kids. We are still healing from an emotional roller coaster that was caused by all the time invested in the last year.

As a full time mechanical designer, I just don’t have a lot of time left in the day and I’m not going to take time away from my kids. So until God really opens a door to a relaxed schedule then we’re still seeking God’s will and purpose for Five8 Motocross.

I know so many people have asked what is up with it and I can only say we’re in a time of healing. There was so much pressure to do more and be more that the candle finally blew itself out. This ministry has gone dormant before as other pressing issued arose and it will again.

Thanks for all the support and prayers and if anyone is looking for an alternative ministry leader hit me up =)

In Christ-

Burned Out Pastors…

posted by CY25

As many of you who have followed this site anticipating another 58MXLive show to air I think it’s time to shed some light on what is going on.  As you may or may not know Five8 is a self supported ministry by a couple average guys who love the Lord, have families and also work full time jobs (not in ministry).

In giving with our time over the past year, God has really opened up some huge doors.  Unfortunately never being in that situation I was pinned trying to keep up with every opportunity God presented.  As a result about 6 weeks ago my wife told me if she wasn’t a Christian she would have left a long time ago.  This was a serious issue, one that really caught me off guard.  You see I’m the guy who always said I will never sacrifice my family for ministry.  I do not want my two little girls to hate God for my lack of time and devotion with them as I have heard time and time again how families have been destroyed by “full” time pastors. The vision that goes through my mind is Jesus standing there with my wife and kids while I roost on them leaving them in the dust.  What a weird place to be and yet now I see I even left God behind.

Fast forward 6 weeks, and God has done some amazing things in our marriage and my own heart.  He has show me some amazing thing, mostly BE STILL AND KNOW I’M GOD….So my family doing a whole lot better, we just got back from an amazing 10 day trip to California in which we drove and i was able to really reflect on the past year and how I let ministry tear my family apart.

So we are in the rebuilding state of Five8 Motocross and 58MXLive (maybe it will be something else) but just know we too don’t have it all figured out.  So please keep the ministry in your prayers we will be back better, and more focused.  We have some cool things planned with some trick bible devotionals and we may even get some guest riders interacting, but you’ll have to stay tuned.

In the mean time read this snippet I found from one of my favorite pastors Mark Driscoll

Burned Out Pastors

Saturday, 28 February 2009 15:21 09mxsportslogoINIDANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 28, 2009) – As the new era of professional motocross in America continues to take shape, a large piece of the puzzle was revealed this morning when Lucas Oil announced it will serve as the AMA Pro Motocross Championship title sponsor for the next three years.  This announcement comes on the heels of the groundbreaking marketing and media partnership formed between MX Sports and Alli, the Alliance of Action

Whartons…

posted by CY25

Well the long haired ones proved that long sulky hair is an advantage over those follically challenged like myself.  As this is what a lot of competitors saw in Atlanta.  Blake missed the podium by a last turn hard charge by Davalos.  Well better luck next weekend, there we can expect Blake on the podium and Tyler in the top 10.

58MXLive finally transfered…

posted by CY25

Well after pushing through many sleepless nights we finally got everything transferred from the old 58MXLive site which will soon be a thing of the past.  The reason for this is simplicity.  The other site was flash and took a lot of time to update and maintain.  Our new vision for 2009 is quick and simple.  Look for great interviews on the show and 5.8 minute updates when we call random riders to check and see how their racing or recovery is going.  So sit back and relax and if you have someone you would like to get on the show or have James Stewarts phone number we would love to chat with Bubba in the new year ;-)

Please let us know if there are any audio problems as we are still working out the bugs with this new site.

Thanks!

Pastors Gone Wild…

posted by CY25

I was sent this link and thought I would share it. I did see Kevin walking around with a pixie stick over the weekend, I wonder if he would make the gang. ;-)

The weapons and gang charges stem from a fight in July between the Hells Angels and the Set Free Soldiers, a Christian motorcycle group.

By Tony Barboza
September 26, 2008

The pastor of a Christian motorcycle club pleaded not guilty to felony weapons and gang charges today in a case that hinges on whether he heads a church ministry or an outlaw biker gang.

Phillip Aguilar, 61, pastor of the Anaheim-based Set Free Soldiers, pleaded not guilty to charges of being a felon in possession of a handgun, ammunition and brass knuckles, and of being an active participant in a gang.

Four other members of the group, including Aguilar’s 29-year-old son, Matthew Aguilar, also pleaded not guilty to weapons and gang charges, and another pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.

The charges stem from a July bar fight in Newport Beach between the Set Free Soldiers and the Hells Angels in which two Hells Angels were stabbed. In a pre-dawn raid in August, authorities seized dozens of weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition at four homes owned by Set Free on Archer Street in Anaheim.

Police and prosecutors say the 25-year-old group has evolved into a criminal motorcycle gang in recent years, but Set Free maintains it is a Christian ministry that helps rehabilitate ex-convicts and recovering drug addicts.

On their website the Set Free Soldiers describe themselves as “a group of men who love Jesus and love to ride hard. We are not your normal motorcycle club. Some say we are too good for the bad guys, and too bad for the good guys.”

Aguilar, who is free on $50,000 bail, appeared in court wearing black, plastic-rimmed glasses, with a web-like tattoo around his left eye and a dyed blond buzz cut.

Phillip Aguilar’s attorney, Doug Myers, said he did not believe the prosecution would be able to prove Set Free is a gang, saying its members don’t have “the background that you traditionally see in gang cases.”

The court rejected the prosecution’s request to bar Aguilar from associating with members of Set Free outside his immediate family, but did order that the group could not possess “dangerous or deadly weapons.”

Myers also disputed the weapons charges, saying the brass knuckles were found in Matthew Aguilar’s dresser drawer and the gun in the drawer of his other son.

“Phil wasn’t aware of them and they’re not his,” Myers said.

Aguilar served time for child abuse in the 1970s and converted to Christianity in prison. He founded Set Free Worldwide Ministries in 1982. By the mid 1990s the group had expanded across the nation and gained thousands of followers. While the group’s reach has narrowed over the past decade, Aguilar continues to hold weekly services.

Ryan Morias – Ben Evans

Ryan Morias and Ben Evans – 58MXLive -
The westcoast lites class has been getting interesting and we caught up with two of the top 10 guys Ryan Morias and Ben Evans. Ben Evans has been opening some eyes sitting in 8th place as a privateer and coming from the state of Idaho. Ryan Morias talks to the guys about his PC ride and how he came to know God, very cool interview.

Stepping in for Shand is Five8 Motocross own Alan “Sandbagger” Johnson. He provided a very good thought provoking insite with our Moment of Truth segment. Shand did make a full recovery from his man-boob surgery but lost his phone so did not get the updated recording time change. So while we recorded, Shand was at Taco Casa replenishing much needed calories from his Rio Bravo experience.

And finally, give us your comments on the shows if they are clean we may read them on the show or better yet, call the hot line share your feelings, prayer requests, eviction notices, whatever you want 972-784-4000.
